KDE 4.0 Beta 1 Release Announcement

Since this Thursday the first Beta release for KDE 4.0 is available. This release marks the beginning of the integration process which will bring the powerful new technologies included in the now frozen KDE 4 libraries to the applications. Some of the programmes received additional features and the usability has been improved. One highlight is the geographical application Marble showing a spherical earth, which you can zoom and rotate similar to goolge earth. The feature freeze for applications will follow with the second Beta-Release. Until then the developers have time to add new functions to their programms and to to adapt them to the new library interface.
